The trade weighted value of the US dollar fell roughly 2% over the last week and is down 6% since the highs of earlier this year.

The accelerated decline in the dollar over the last month has accompanied news that, while recovering, economic momentum is not strong and the probability of Fed tightening soon is not high.

Despite recent weakness, the dollar is up roughly 13% since late 1999.

Commodity prices also have fallen recently though not as precipitously as the dollar. The JoC-ECRI Industrial Materials Price Index is down 0.6% over the last week and 2.6% from the March highs.

Crude oil prices have moved higher recently but other industrial prices are down. Prices in the "miscellaneous" category are down sharply.

Versus early 2000, commodity prices are down nearly 14%.
