Chart: The latest Q2 2026 reading shows an unemployment rate of 30.1% (4qma) for the 15-24 year age group in North Macedonia – and it has been hovering there for 3 years. This is significantly high by international standards, as the world average sits around 16.1%, while the European average sits around 15.8%. While youth unemployment has fallen by roughly half from the catastrophic early-2000 levels of 65%, it remains stubbornly high, indicating that despite overall growth, economic reforms and policy initiatives, interconnected structural challenges in the labor market persist.

**EMERGECW** → **Uzbekistan** → Public Finance and Debt → Central Government Public Debt

Central government public debt statistics for Uzbekistan were added to **EMERGECW**. This table includes external and domestic debt available by type of interest rate, currency and maturity. Metrics as a percent of GDP are also included. Quarterly data are sourced from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan and start in Q4 2019.

Chart: Uzbekistan's state debt reached 47 billion USD in Q1 2026, of which 85% was external debt. International financial institutions make up the largest share accounting for 56% of the total. Bilateral loans from foreign government financial institutions make up another 29%. The remainder was raised directly from international investors through the issuance of sovereign bonds. The debt ratio sits at 26.6% which is not problematic, but there are concerns about its increasingly heavy external reliance making Uzbekistan vulnerable to exchange rate and external financing shocks.

**GLSECTOR** → Water Statistics → **Hungary** → Danube River Water Level at Paks

A Danube River water level series for Hungary was added to **GLSECTOR**, **INTDAILY**, **ENERGY** and **TRANSPRT**. The reading is taken from the location of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. The series is reported in centimeters relative to a zero reference point. Daily data are sourced from the General Directorate of Water Management and start in January 2002.

Chart: Europe's Danube River has fallen to its lowest levels in more than half a century, disrupting the transport of food, fuel, and industrial goods across the region. The impact is particularly acute for Hungary's Paks nuclear power plant—the nation's sole facility and source of roughly half of its electricity. Low water levels have crippled the plant's cooling system, forcing it to operate at just 25% of capacity. Hungary came perilously close to a complete shutdown last week until engineering work in the river near the plant averted the crisis.

Freight transport cost statistics for Russia were added to the **TRANSPRT** database. Month-over-month and year-over-year growth rates for rail, maritime, inland water, road, air and pipeline freight costs are included on this table. Monthly data are sourced from the Federal State Statistics Service and start in January 2006.

Chart: June 2026 saw across the board year-over-year freight cost increases in Russia ranging from 14.3% – 4.6%. This continues an almost uninterrupted streak of YoY increases dating back to 2022. The surge persists due to a severe domestic fuel crisis driven by attacks on oil refineries, soaring maritime war-risk insurance, security threats in the Black Sea, aggressive rate hikes in state railway tariffs, and mounting equipment and labor shortages.

**CMDTY** → Spot Prices → Shanghai Metals Market Prices

We expanded our metal prices offering sourced from Shanghai Metals Market in the **CMDTY** database. Twenty-four new prices were added to this table including battery-grade lithium carbonate, three rare earth metals, four rare earth oxides, and fifteen minor metals. Daily data start as early as December 2006.

Chart: Erbium is a heavy rare earth element with a narrow but strategically significant demand profile anchored in telecommunications infrastructure. Secondary applications include laser technology, nuclear reactors, and certain alloys. These use cases position erbium as a heavy rare earth with genuine industrial demand but without the supply scarcity or explosive demand growth of magnet elements such as dysprosium and terbium. Erbium’s price trajectory is therefore more stable and is less exposed to the EV and wind turbine demand cycles that dominate rare earth investment narratives.

**TRANSPRT** → Vehicle Statistics → **Singapore** → Motor Vehicle Registrations by Vehicle & Fuel Type

Motor vehicle registration statistics by class of vehicle and fuel type for Singapore were added to the **TRANSPRT** database. Vehicle classes include cars, taxis, motorcycles, goods transport vehicles, and buses. Fuel type detail includes petrol, diesel, full electric, and various forms of hybrid technologies. These monthly data are sourced from the Land Transport Authority and start in January 2016.

Chart: Although fossil fuel-powered cars still outnumber cars with EV technology by a margin of more than 2 to 1, the rate of EV technology adoption in Singapore has been significant. In January of 2016, the margin was 90 to 1. The total stock of passenger cars has increased by a modest 8.5% in the last decade in Singapore, but during this time we have seen a decrease in the stock of fossil fuel-powered cars decrease by 23%. During this same period, registrations of electric and hybrid cars increased by 2,900%, making Singapore a regional leader in EV technology adoption.

**GLSECTOR** → Artificial Intelligence → Artificial Intelligence Use in Enterprises

Almost 78,000 series relating to AI use in European enterprises have been added to **GLSECTOR**. Coverage includes data for the EU, EA and 34 individual countries. Data are available by sector with detail by type of AI technology, purpose of use, source of the AI, reasons for not using AI, digital intensity metrics and AI use on individuals. Annual data are sourced from Eurostat and start in 2021.

Chart: The adoption of AI to generate written or spoken language or programming codes in Europe by information & communication enterprises has been meteoric. In Austria, Denmark and Sweden – some of the top adopters – use has risen by 46, 41 and 49 percentage points, respectively, since 2023. Approximately one third of European countries covered are above 50% usage in 2025. The euro area’s information & communication enterprises as a whole are showing 43% adoption in 2025.

**INTWKLY** → World and Regional Indicators → Risk-On Risk-Off Index (RORO)

The RORO index was added to **INTDAILY** and **INTWKLY**. This index is a multifaceted measure designed to capture the realized variation in global investor risk appetite. It uses daily data from asset markets in the US and the euro area. It presents an aggregation of risk-on risk-off states of the world based on four broad categories reflecting variation in advanced economy credit risk, equity market volatility, funding conditions and currencies and gold. Data are sourced from FRB KC and start in May 2003.

Chart: The period of the Global Financial Crisis (fall 2008) and the early days of the COVID pandemic (3/2020) display some of the biggest risk-off movements, peaking above 10 standard deviations. The S&P downgrade of the US credit rating (8/2011), the collapse of Credit Suisse (3/2023), and liberation day (4/2025) also illustrate noteworthy examples of significant risk-off dates, reaching 5.8, 3.6 and 4.6 standard deviations, respectively.

**EMERGELA** → **Colombia** → Prices → Inflation Expectations by Items

Inflation expectation detail for Colombia was added to **EMERGELA**. Concepts include means, medians and standard deviations for current inflation, end of year, over 12 months, end of next year and over 24 months. Series are available for total CPI, CPI ex food, CPI ex food and regulated items, CPI for food and CPI for regulated items. Monthly data are sourced from Banco de la Republica de Colombia and start as early as 2003.

Chart: Looking ahead, Banco de la Republica expects inflation to continue increasing over the remainder of the year, reaching 6.61% for total CPI from its current level of 6.14%. Drivers include the lingering effects of the minimum wage increase, strong domestic demand, the imminent arrival of the El Niño phenomenon (affecting food supplies), and the risk of the conflict in the Middle East resuming (affecting regulated energy prices).

Tourist arrival detail for the Maldives was added to the **TOURISM** database. Tourist arrivals from 80 individual countries and 15 world regions are available on this table. Monthly data are sourced from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and start as early as January 1988.

Chart: The Maldives has spent years cementing its reputation as one of the world's premiere luxury tropical destinations and has seen increasing tourist arrivals since the end of the pandemic. However, 2026 tells a different story with significant double-digit YoY decreases from most world regions. Ongoing instability in the Middle East has continued to ripple across global flight networks – and because many travelers reach the Maldives through Middle Eastern hubs, disruptions, rerouted flights, and higher fuel costs make the journey more complicated, expensive and thus less appealing.

**EMERGECW** → **Lithuania** → Financial → Debt (Domestic and Foreign) → Net External Debt

Net external debt statistics for Lithuania were added to the **EMERGECW** database. Seventy-four series are included on this table which displays the same level of detail as the existing gross external debt table. Quarterly data are sourced from the Bank of Lithuania and start in Q1 2004.

Chart: Despite a gross external debt of €88.6 billion, Lithuanian-owned assets abroad outpace foreign liabilities. Net external debt is negative, standing at -€9.3 billion or -10.9% of GDP as of Q1 2026. It peaked at 40% of GDP in Q2 2010 before steadily improving into negative territory thanks to sustained current account surpluses and capital inflows. A record low of -13.2% of GDP was achieved in Q1 2025. Ratings agencies like Fitch highlight this elimination of net external debt as a core pillar of Lithuania’s economic strength and recently upgraded its sovereigns to an A+ rating with a stable outlook.

**ENERGY** → OECD Net Effective Energy Rates

Effective energy rate (EER) statistics were added to **ENERGY**. The EER is the sum of fuel excise taxes, carbon taxes, electricity excise taxes and tradeable permits that effectively put a price on energy use. The net EER equals the EER minus fossil fuel and electricity subsidies that decrease pre-tax energy prices. This data set includes the EER and its components and is available for 79 individual countries. Annual data (not reported consecutively) are sourced from the OECD and start in 2018.

Chart: Of the 79 countries covered, 32 do not apply taxes on electricity use. Among those that levy an electricity excise tax, its role in revenues is still small relative to other tax instruments. However, in a few countries, such as the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland, revenues from electricity taxes make a more substantial contribution to government revenues. This is caused by a high electricity tax rate, a broad tax base due to a high degree of electrification, or a combination of both.
