EMERGEPRMalaysia → Public Finance and Debt → 1st and Revised Budget Estimates

Petroleum and nonpetroleum federal budget estimates for Malaysia were added to the EMERGEPR database. These series are available in millions of ringgit or as a percent of total revenue. Annual data are sourced from the Ministry of Finance Malaysia and start as early as 2009.

Chart: Malaysia's petroleum-related revenue is projected to decline to 43 billion ringgit in 2026, a significant drop from previous years. Lower crude prices and reduced dividends from Petronas, its state-owned petroleum company, are contributing factors for the decline. As a share of total revenue, petroleum-related revenues have decreased from 41.3% in 2009 to 12.5% in 2026. This highlights Malaysia's goal to reduce its reliance on commodity-based revenue. Nonpetroleum revenues are expected to rise by 8.1% in 2026.

ANZR → Manufacturing & Trade and Services → Motor Vehicle Registrations → Australia

Motor vehicle registration detail for Australia was added to the ANZR database, with some series also added to ANZ and G10. National totals plus coverage for the states and territories are included. For each, detail is available by vehicle type – e.g. passenger, light commercial, trucks, buses and motorcycles. These annual data are sourced from the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics and start in 2021.

Chart: Passenger and light commercial vehicles constitute 91% of vehicle registrations in Australia. Growth in the number of registered vehicles over the past few years has been primarily driven by SUVs, which are included in both categories. Growth in online shopping (and thus logistics and delivery demands) and the increasing popularity of utility vehicles for everyday use are factors contributing to this shift in registrations.

ENERGYBulgaria → Natural Gas Production, Imports, Stock Changes and Deliveries

Natural gas statistics for Bulgaria were added to the ENERGY database. Concepts include production, imports, stock changes, and deliveries. Data are available in millions of cubic meters or in terajoules. These monthly data are sourced from the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute and start in January 2022.

Chart: Bulgaria used to rely on Russia for 90% of its natural gas. The supply was abruptly cut off on April 27 2022, after Bulgaria refused Russia's demand for payment in rubles. Since then, Bulgaria has been successfully diversifying its sourcing of natural gas. It now receives LNG from the US via terminals in Greece and Turkey. In late 2022, it started transporting natural gas via a new pipeline from Azerbaijan. Bulgaria has also ramped up domestic production efforts through various projects in the Black Sea.
